My Story

My name is Val Tannenbaum. I’m the Owner/Operator/Neighbor who runs A2Z Locksmith.

I grew up on the Brooklyn waterfront in a “working class” household, and because trouble could come from anywhere, I stayed close to home, spending lots of time with my Grandfather in his basement workshop. To keep me out of his hair, he’d give me little projects to do, explaining later what had caused my repairs to fail, which re-wired my brain toward things mechanical. And I fell in love with working with my hands, and so I’m now a musician, artist, locksmith and a safecracker.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I imagine I could have done worse than to start a business where I can help people protect everyone and everything they hold dear.

I have been living in Weston,  Florida for 30 years, serving its residents since 1998 as a Locksmith. I have served THOUSANDS of clients countywide over the years, and being in business for over 24 years, I’ve met a lot of people along the way. One thing that I’ve heard over and over from hundreds of people is that “it’s so hard to find a good locksmith” and “how do you even know you’re getting an honest locksmith, or an affordable locksmith, let alone the best locksmith in town?”

These are all valid questions, and they deserve an honest answer. The truth is that some ‘affordable’ locksmiths do substandard work or install substandard hardware. And quite a few also do substandard work, but will charge outrageous prices anyway. Others will advertise very low service call fees, or even zero service call fees, but still find a way to increase the cost of the work once they arrive at your home or business. It has become a dog-eat-dog society and everybody knows it.

But there are a few people, a few companies, who always try to do the right thing and to show respect for the customer – that’s where I come into the game.
